Stark Industries was a multi-billion dollar company that produced ammunition for enemy countries. At a field test at one of his international camps he was kidnapped by terrorists and in the process of the kidnapping a land mine was set off leaving a piece of shrapnel lodged next to his heart. His co-prisoner, a scientist saved his life by engineering an Arc Reactor which permanently became a part of him.
To escape from the prison they built armor complete with magnetic weaponry. In the process of their escape Tony’s friend dies.
From this incident, Tony renewed his outlook on life losing his playboy image and concentrating on maintaining his superior armor.
The Iron Man suit has flight capability, assorted weaponry and super strength performance. The red and gold coated superhero’s armor is made of iron and cannot easily be penetrated or destroyed.
His teamwork with the Avengers has further helped to rid the world of its enemies.
